WWWWWWWWWWW 'V'V'V'W'W'V'V'W'V'V'V 'V'V'V'V'V'V'V'V'V WWW Wayne's Woodstock spoof! £1699) which is released direct on to retail video One of the grand daddies of documentaries it uses split screen to good effect and interviews with people who appear to be on this planet an extra 30 minutes in this version with new songs from Hendrix Joplin and Jefferson Airplane amongst others The extra half an hour is quite conservative considering director Michael Wadleigh and assistant Martin Scorsese shot 120 hours of film! Now that really would be a cut and a half! With Mums and Dads straining to keep junior entertained a good time to welcome a new Warner Brothers label simply called Family Entertainment Launching it are the gorgeously-filmed classic The Secret Garden and Home Alone-style Dennis Also out is Lois Clark The New Adventures of Superman the Aladdin spoof Bugs Bunny movie 1001 Rabbit Tales Tiny How I Spent My Vacation and a range of re-releases with special mention reserved for the ace Rover Dangerfield (all Warner) Family Entertainment £999 £1399 each Dennis remarkable The Singing Detective (BBC Video £1299) is being released to commemorate his death Stiff upper lips are the order of the day in The Final Test (Odyssey £1099) which is the one and only film about cricket and stars Jack Warner as an ageing cricketer who wants his errant son to watch him play his final test match against the Australians Peter Dean THE sequel is getting a better name for itself after Addams Family Values and now World 2 (PG Paramount 90 mins) both of which are a lot funnier and tighter than the first films In this awesomely-inspired comedy Wayne has a dream in which he meets Jim Morrison who urges him to stage a rock concert in sleepy Aurora Illinois them and they will Jim suggests when Wayne wonders how he can get Aerosmith to headline Waynestock! He does book them they show and Wayne looks like losing everything especially his street cred Garth meanwhile is having a torrid affair with Honey Hornay (Kim Basinger) while Cassandra (Tia Car-rere) is being wooed by slimy producer Christopher Walken who wants to turn her into a star There are cameos galore and some wonderful movie spoofs Hard to believe I like the first film! Free Willy (U Warner 107 mins) must have been a nightmare for Warner publicity department! Luckily though the jokes rest with the name alone because the film itself is pure thrills and spills for all the family about one relationship with a killer whale in the American North West Jesse is a young homeless boy whose punishment for vandalising is to clean up the amusem*nt park tank where recently-caught killer whale Willy is being kept The owner Dial (Michael Ironside) wants Willy to perform tricks and attract the crowds or else kill him and collect on the insurance Jesse hears of the terrible plan and tries to rescue Willy before too late A highly recommended family adventure from Simon Wincer who made the video hits DARYL and Phar Lap After a few years in the cold Greystoke star Christopher Lambert seems to be in just about every action film at the moment No exception is Gunmen (18 Columbia Tristar 93 mins) a Lethal Weapon-influenced buddy movie in which he and Mario Van Peebles (Posse) pursue hidden treasure Lambert plays Dani a gun runner whose brother knows the whereabouts of the loot but dies before he can tell Van Peebles is the DEA agent who gets a whiff of the treasure whereupon both pitted against every other hood in Venezuela More action thrills can be found in Red Sun Rising (18 Guild 92 mins) which stars Don Wilson (Cyber Tracker) as a cop who travels to the States to avenge the death of his partner got a better-than-average script for a martial arts film and the action sequences are well choreographed Also out is Rise and Walk (PG FoxVideo 85 mins) which is the true and moving story of New York Jets football star Dennis Byrd who had a freak accident during a game in 1992 which left him a paraplegic a happy twist to this tale of human courage in the face of adversity The release of World 2 with its Woodstock spoof is timely given that the first major rock and peace event is 25 years old this week Helping celebrate is Woodstock The Cut (PG Warner SATURDAY RADIO TWO 70 Don Maclean 905 Bob Holness 1030 Hayes on Sunday 120 Desmond
